This book will teach your child how to draw with the easiest approach possible...by using alphabet letters, numbers, and other simple shapes. Rachel has been teaching kids how to draw for almost ten years now, and this drawing technique really works! With this no-tears strategy, learning how to draw is fun for children as young as 4 years old, but also works for adults and teens. Cartooning is fun for kids, but even more fun when it comes easy to them. This book does just that...makes drawing fun and easy for kids. This book will turn your child into the artist that he or she wants to be.

Each drawing lesson is a step by step process. Each tutorial is broken down into the simplest of steps that can be followed by most children. Your child doesn't need to know how to read or write letters to follow these drawing lessons. In fact, preschoolers, Kindergartners, First graders, etc. can enjoy this book. The only thing your child needs is time and interest. You can also use this as a drawing workbook as the child can draw along in the book. Have fun drawing the day away!

When I was a kid I remember drawing a man's face from the letter S and thinking how cool that was. I went on to try other letters but wasn't too successful. So when I saw this book on Amazon I thought of my grandchildren, one of whom is 8 years old. She seems to be enjoying it a lot, but her older brother and sister are also enjoying it. I tried it myself and found that it was a lot of fun to be able to produce something that was quite close to the finished picture in the book. The illustrations are very simple and clear. Each character is represented by a letter of the alphabet. The characters are broken down into simple shapes so it is easy to follow. I was surprised and pleased by what my granddaughter was able to produce. Kids may like coloring and drawing, but can sometimes be easily discouraged because they can't figure out how to translate something onto paper.
I think a book such as this is a good way to stimulate a child's imagination. After the drawing is done you can ask them to make their own stories using the drawing.
The author, Rachel Goldstein refers to her website; Drawing How to Draw dot com which we also looked at. On the website there are hundreds of tutorials done using the same method as the book. She is obviously an accomplished artist, but doesn't boast about her accomplishments in the book. I like that.
I'm so glad the author refers to this wonderful website. You can be sure that my grandchildren will be visiting it often. I am also looking forward to purchasing her next drawing book. This is really a wonderful book and a great buy. I highly recommend it.
Note: I asked my grandchildren to do their drawings on a separate sheet of paper, even though the book has a place for each drawing. I plan on donating this book to our local library so other children can enjoy it. I will be ordering another copy.

Super cute cartoon-ish figures and very easy to follow. Ordered for my grandson, he thought they were cool! He's excited to try all the books I bought by Rachel Goldstein.
A fun book on teaching kids to learn the alphabet by turning each letter into a cute cartoon drawing. Provides step by step pictures but no verbal description of each step which I personally missed. But all in all great book!
This helped me keep my students engaged in class. They are always very exited when I teach them a new number drawing.
Easy to fallow instructions. Works on one letter drawing per 2 pages side by side. My son couldn't wait to try the drawings.
A great tool for teachers and homeschoolers. This book will keep kids busy for hours in a wholesome and inexpensive way. I highly recommend it. Drawing can also encourage creativity and help increase self-esteem. Even if you don't have kids you can use these drawings as relaxation therapy. I love trying out these doodles while waiting for appointments or listening to music.
Every page brings about more confidence as an artist. You can see your children learn and grow with every new character! This is a must have for anyone that loves to draw! It is fun for all ages! Yes, adults pick-up a pencil and join in on the fun! You just might be shocked at what you can do too!
This book is a hit!! It provided lots of creative, tech free entertainment for a 13 year old, a 12 year old, a 10 year old, and a 40 year old today! We especially loved learning how to draw a llama and lots of other animals. So much fun!!!
