The Ruby Circle A Bloodlines Novel Richelle Mead Books
The Ruby Circle was a pretty good ending to this series, but not exactly what I was expecting or hoping for. Adrian and Sydney don't get their honeymoon, because things at Court are tense. They've basically broken every taboo ever, and Jill is still missing. Obviously, those two have to get out of there and go on a rescue mission while also avoiding the Alchemists. That's not all though. There is a lot more going on and it was actually too much, hence my lower rating. It seemed like the author tried to cram all kinds of random plot threads into The Ruby Circle. As a result, this finale is kind of jumbled and some parts simply don't make sense. Some characters from previous books are randomly brought back and I honestly didn't believe their involvement in Jill's kidnapping at all. Really anyone else would have worked better. It was a failed attempted at bringing things full circle and tying up loose ends. There's also this side mission that Adrian goes on to help a friend and I really didn't care about that either. It did add something interesting to the world building, and I think I'd like another spin-off exploring that, but for this book it just didn't fit.
I really don't know what to say about The Ruby Circle. It's a happy ending, which was expected. I did enjoy it and it was a relatively quick read. It is the shortest book of the series, which just further convinces me that the author added the randomness as filler to make it longer. There's really not much left for Sydney and Adrian to do except rescue Jill, and get the Alchemists off their backs. The epilogue was pretty cute though.

The Ruby Circle A Bloodlines Novel Richelle Mead Books Reviews
Unlike many of other series enders from this author, the final book in Richelle Mead's Bloodlines series was anticlimactic and dull. Adrian and Sydney have become increasing more boring over the last few books. I enjoyed the first half of the series a lot because of the wonderful dynamic between Sydney and Adrian and also each novel's subplots.
My biggest problem with the last few books have been the focus on characters (Olive, Neil and Nina) who I just don't care about. These characters were largely introduced in The Fiery Heart and I never felt connected to with them enough for them to take up large amounts of the plot.
With the romantic tension gone now that Adrian and Sydney are a couple, the need for a completely compelling and engaging plot is amplified. Richelle Mead is notorious a detailed and clever plot artist, but I felt my enjoyment with this series take a nosedive after book 3. The finale to this six-book series just didn't deliver. I was bored with married Sydney and Adrian and wasn't interested in the sub-plots the author created to create more tension and action.
I enjoyed this book, but I enjoyed all the ones before it a lot more. This book let me down as far as it being the last one in the series. I liked that Rose and Dimitri were in this book here and there. This book was just lacking something for me though. The author did a nice job of tying up loose ends, but it just wasn't a satisfying conclusion for me. All the other books in the series involve twists and really exciting adventure. This book just seemed like a boring scavenger hunt with two plot lines going on at once with a nice calm ending. No plot twists, no character that I have come to love has anything dramatic happening to them really. It was one of those books where you could totally predict everything that was going to happen after reading the first five or so chapters.
So someone’s been bad. Want to take a wild guess? You guessed right! It’s me! I’m pretty terrible actually. I was totally sure that I reviewed this book. That’s why I’m finally posting this review now. It’s only one of my favorite (if not my all time favorite) YA series!! I apologize to my fellow Sydrian fans. I guess I delayed it because I was really hoping this book would help the series go out with a bang, but at the same time I was fearing Mead would give it a bitter-sweet and unsatisfying ending, like she tends to do for her series on several occasions.
All in all, I sort of ended this series feeling like no news is good news. I was really hoping for something more exhilarating, but in the end it felt like more of a fizzle. Without a doubt Books 3 and 4 are the best of the series. This book didn’t feel nearly as special and a few aspects felt like they were on the predictable side.
Sydrian didn’t have the same spark that I felt from them in the earlier books. The characters remain likable and both have grown which is nice to see, but that’s about all I can say.
I will definitely miss this series, and though I’m happy for a satisfying ended, at the same time I was left wanting more. I wasn’t into Vampire Academy nearly as much as Bloodlines, and there’s clearly an opportunity for another sequel of 6 after this one. But I don’t really think I want to follow those characters as the leads so I can’t say for sure if I’ll be reading it.
